The curse of DQ200 DSG gearbox
There are plenty of tales about DSG transmissions floating around in garages and bars, some of which are actually based on true stories. One of these is the infamous issue with the DQ200 transmission, which often leads to a mechatronic replacement.
The DSG7 DQ200, commonly found in many Audi, Seat, Skoda, and Volkswagen models with a so-called dry clutch, has a factory design flaw. As a result, you’ll often see fault codes like P17BF and P189C.
Where Do These Fault Codes Come From?
In this type of transmission, the hydraulic pump generates oil pressure, which is directed through a filter into what’s called an accumulator. The accumulator smooths and maintains pressure within the system.
In the original design, the walls of the accumulator housing are unnecessarily thin, making them prone to cracking over time. As a result of this leakage, the system pressure doesn’t stay at the desired level, disrupting the transmission’s operation.
How Can the DQ200 Issue Be Fixed?
In many cases, the issue is fixed by replacing the entire mechatronic unit, which is not only expensive but doesn’t guarantee the problem won’t return.
With our available repair kit, the job gets done more easily and reliably. In many models, you can replace the part without removing the mechatronics or unnecessary disassembly.

Thanks to the stronger structure of the new housing, this problem is unlikely to surprise you again.
Installation of the product doesn’t require any reprogramming or adjustments. After installation, the system will function as it was originally designed, and a simple fault code reset is usually enough.
Making the DSG-7 More Reliable and Durable?
Besides this mechanical issue, there’s also plenty of room for improvement on the control side of the transmission. With the right upgrades, the gearbox can work significantly better, faster, more efficiently, and last much longer.
