Powerful in-tank pump for BMW B58 engine
BMWs B58 serie and it’s various versions are the choice of todays tuner. You can’t avoid to hear that type code in every petrolhead event, and the numbers that engine can make with reasonably little hardware modifications.
This tuning potential is also the very reason why fueling system is having hard days in this powertrain. With OEM HPFP the rail pressure will start it’s diving course soon after mild Stage1 tunes, so the journey towards big power is usually continued with help of high output HPFP kit such as Dorch Stage 2 or Spool FX-180. Next one in the line will be your low pressure fuel pump, having hard time inside the gas fuel tank.
Beyond HPFP
Typical upgrade after HPFP would be the port injection kit, which quite quickly calls for a stronger LPFP to keep up with the demand of 2 fuel systems together.

Stage 3 LPFP
S3 model moves 5 litres per minute, this kit is built from OEM brushless pump inside the bucket, and additional Walbro 450lph on the outside. Secondary pump is controller by a hobbs pressure switch, turning it on whenever there’s demand for more fuel supply (when boost pressure increases),

Stage 4.5 LPFP
Moves 6 litres per minute, similar with Stage3 but with bigger Walbro 525 pump instead of 450, and a bracket for optional ethanol content sensor + fail safe fuel pressure sensor (1/8NPT). Kit includes an in-line fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator to ensure a steady, balanced flow of fuel.
