Description
Jump to high-octane E85 fuel, and cash out more power more efficiently. This product package contains a model-specific ethanol sensor kit MQB EA888.3, for engines with Simos 18x generation engine controller. The package also includes larger intake manifold injectors, which guarantee sufficient fuel supply even for Stage2+ / Stage3 level implementations and high outputs.
This kit is intended for (pre-OPF) 2013-2018 models with MPI injection, consisting of high-pressure and low-pressure injectors (located in the intake manifold).
- Model-specific ethanol sensor kit with connectors and wiring harnesses
- Genuine and checked Bosch injectors (957cc) to replace the original MPI injectors, including adapters and gaskets
- Depending on the power goal, combine with an upgraded HPFP high-pressure pump and/or a more powerful LPFP tank pump
- NOTE: ECU CALIBRATION IS NECESSARY! These components help you to build the hardware needed for the Flexfuel solution. To use your car with the Flexfuel function and benefit from the benefits of the fuel, however, you need a professional calibration for your engine controller. For our Finnish customers, see the TVS ENGINEERING Flex calibrations on the ECU Helsinki side of our workshop, contact us and we will design a properly fine-tuned configuration that fits your goals. Please note that you CAN NOT drive the car with these parts without calibration.
MQB EA888.3 ethanol sensor
This series uses an ethanol sensor manufactured by Continental, also used by car manufacturers. This durable and accurate sensor interprets the ethanol content of the fuel flowing in the fuel line, and leads this information directly to the car’s ECU engine controller. After calibration, the ethanol information is activated as part of the car’s bus, after which the ethanol percentage can also be viewed via the OBD port if desired. (E.g. OBD Eleven, VCDS)
MQB EA888.3 Bosch MPI nozzles
The car’s original intake manifold nozzles are very limited in size (160cc), and thus quite useless in a tuned engine. The Bosch injectors supplied in this set are directly suitable for your car, they are supplied with appropriate adapters and seals. When your car’s ECU is calibrated to use these nozzles properly, it is enough to supply up to +600hp from the nozzles of the intake manifold, even when running on E85 fuel. (For higher outputs, ask for larger 1300cc nozzles if necessary)
HPFP and LPFP updates
Depending on which supercharger, and how powerful your configuration is to be tuned – it is also necessary to upgrade the high-pressure pump (HPFP), and often also to strengthen the tank pump so that the capacity is sufficient. The energy content of E85 fuel is lower than 98E, which is why, in terms of pump output, about 30% more pure should be dimensioned on the supply side. See Linked Update Sets for these.
Installation
We deliver the set with precise, pictorial instructions. The instructions are in English. Installation requires basic tools and dexterity – Please note that during installation the fuel line is opened, and the work also includes connecting electrical wires to the car’s power connections and the engine controller. Car engine controller calibration is essential.
Of course, we also assist with the installation remotely, but the easiest way is to book an installation job at our ECU Helsinki Customs installation point in Vantaa. Examples of compatible models and typical use cases:
