Description
Fluidampr Viscous Torsional Damper for 2.2 Turbo Audi Inline-5
The Fluidampr viscous torsional damper is essential for high-performance 2.2 Turbo Audi engines, specifically for reducing engine vibration, flywheel chatter, and protecting components in tuned setups. Designed in collaboration with Jeff Gerner from Four Ring’s Performance, this damper replaces the OEM unit, which often has aged rubber and may be cracked. Audi has discontinued this part, making this Fluidampr an ideal upgrade for Audi fans.

Important: Balancing the engine
- The AAN (and other older inline-5) engines are balanced as a complete rotating assembly. We do not recommend installing this product on a motor currently in a vehicle. The rotating assembly must first be zero balanced and then the Fluidampr can be installed. If you are going to remove any material from the fluidampr , do so from the centre hub NOT the damper itself. Failure to follow this instruction will result in potential catastrophic engine failure or at minimum extreme cabin vibrations.
Technical Notes, important:
- ARP M18 x 69mm Crankshaft Bolt Torque: 255Lb-ft / 345Nm
- Installation of this Fluidampr requires milling (modifying) the center oil pump island lowering it 2mm as well as trimming the lower timing belt metal cover to clearance the Fluidampr assembly. Failure to do this will result in your Fluidampr being wedged to the oil pump housing and your motor will never turn over.
- If your Original Oil Pump part number is 054115109B (NOT 109A) you will have to remove the additional bosses at the 5 o’clock and 8 o’clock positions. These bosses will interfere with the timing belt guide on the back of the Fluidampr. Unfortunately we know this is tedious for some but this is the only solution currently.
