When it comes to BMW, quoting many of our customers the LSD diff should be the first, and most important upgrade of them all. Improvement in traction and overall driveability is undeniable. Better control, better traction.
Typically the diff used in BMW has been one of the known Torsen-type locks such as Quaife ATB or Wavetrac, which work nicely, quietly and are compatible with oem DSC systems. Wavetrac offers the most modern technology and reliable action, which makes it the choice of our customers time after time.
Case E-LSD and disabling it
In this model the original differential comes with a so called E-LSD, which is a lock-up feature controlled by electronics. While being a great feature, it comes with it’s own flaws and weaknesses. Thus, the demand for all mechanical Wavetrac unit has been born.
After installing Wavetrac unit, the E-LSD function should be coded off. If you’re not willing to do this yourself or by local tuners, you can find our remote coding services available from the drop-down menu.
Ready to install – bolt in place and return your oem core
This unit is sold as a pre-installed unit, just bolt it in place, add differential oil and you’re good to hit the road or track. Original differential will be returned to Wavetrac, where it works as a core for next Wavetrac unit to come.

Why the whole unit, can’t I build it myself?
For the last decade and more, BMW has been using a weld-on type diff, which you cannot disassemble simply bu unscrewing the bolts and fitting a new unit. Instead installing a LSD in these models needs skilled machining job, where the ring gear will be separated from OEM unit, modified, and fitted with your Wavetrac unit with reinforced ARP bolts. This conversion is often rather expensive, and not something every machining shop is willing to do at all.
Ready built unit is an easy choice, you’ll be happy to know your diff has been built by Wavetrac with accurate tolerances, offering laid-back kilometres for the future.

Delivery time
These units are exchange parts, meaning that new units are built in the cores that have been returned from our customers. At any given moment there’s only so many units on the move, which leaves a risk of delays in case the return shipments would be delayed.
