Description
In Volkswagen EA888 Gen3 engines, especially with higher mileage, a symptom typically appears where the timing of the intake cam wanders from its set value. In many cases, however, the cause of the problem is simple and easy to fix, by renewing the magnetic solenoids located at the end of the engine that control the adjustment of the camshaft.
This basically applies to all engines of this generation, as an example:
- Volkswagen MK7 / MK7.5 R and GTI
- Audi A3 / S3
- Volkswagen Tiguan, Passat
- Skoda Superb
- Seat Leon
- and many other models equipped with the 2.0TFSI 2013- Â engine.

Diagnosing the symptom
A simple way to diagnose this fault is to look at the live data / log with e.g. VCDS Vagcom or OBD Eleven devices while the car is idling. Pay attention to the “specified” and “actual” intake cam adjustment channels. If the realized value lives significantly in relation to the requested value, it is a sign that the system needs maintenance.
Replacing the solenoid
Part replacement is simple and can be done with basic tools. If necessary, use a new sealing ring for the solenoid, which you can find separately in our selection.
OEM numbers
This part corresponds to e.g. VAG original number 06L109259A, the product is either original or a spare part matching original quality, depending on availability.
This set includes 2pcs of magnetic solenoid so you can replace both intake and exhaust side at the same time. Typically symptom is focused on the intake side.
