Description
AEM Water-Methanol Injection Adds Safety and Extra Power for Turbo Engines
AEM’s water injection system with a Standard controller featuring an internal MAP sensor, designed for turbo engines. Easy to adjust and set up.
- Multi-Input model, use external 0-5V/Frequency signal of your choice
- Includes a 1-gallon fluid tank
- Injector and nozzles included
- Check out our catalog for other controller options and tank sizes
Our recommendation: We recommend using the AEM inline filter as an additional accessory (prevents impurities from entering the injection nozzle and pump) and a 12V solenoid valve, available as an add-on, to prevent fluid leakage under high vacuum. The solenoid closes the line when the pump is not operating.

This system is available in our selection with two different controller types:
Controller with built-in MAP sensor (e.g., product 30-3300): Features an internal MAP sensor. Simply connect a boost hose to the device and adjust as desired.
Multi-Input Controller (e.g., product 30-3350): Operates based on external signals, suitable for both naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines, using, for example, MAP sensor data, injector duty cycle (IDC), or MAF signal for adjustments.
- Safety and Adjustment Features:
- Clear and easy-to-use controls for precise settings.
- Equipped with the “Boost Safe” feature, which protects the engine by detecting fluid shortages or electrical faults.
- Indicator lights for quick monitoring of system status and testing.
- High-Quality Components:
- Quiet and high-performance pump
- Three nozzle options (250cc, 500cc, 1000cc/min) for various power levels
- Wiring designed for easy installation – color-coded wires and connectors simplify the process
- 1-gallon tank with integrated fluid level sensor
What’s the Idea Behind AEM Water-Methanol Injection?
The water-methanol injection system is designed to boost performance and cooling in high-performance vehicles, whether the engine is turbocharged or naturally aspirated. The systems are user-friendly, precise, and include convenient safety features for fault conditions.
What’s the Purpose of WMI?
Water-methanol injection (WMI) is an effective way to significantly reduce intake temperatures and increase the octane rating of the fuel/air mixture, thereby reducing sensitivity to knocking. In a WMI system, methanol is typically mixed with water, and this mixture is injected into the engine through a separate nozzle (e.g., into the boost pipe or intake manifold) according to your configured settings. This occurs when the engine is under heavy load, such as during full throttle or when boost pressure exceeds a set threshold. There are various ways to configure injection amounts in the system.
Benefits of Water-Methanol Injection in Turbocharged Engines
In turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, water-methanol injection allows for higher boost pressures, optimizes combustion, and reduces exhaust gas temperatures. In diesel engines, it can also improve fuel economy and reduce soot emissions. This system not only enhances engine power but also protects it from long-term wear. As an added bonus, WMI keeps intake channels and valves clean in direct injection engines.
